Technical Details
Inspiration
This site is now in it’s second incarnation. The first version was something I created quickly and was never entirely happy with. The current version, was inspired by trying to create a site that doesn’t use “safe” colours and styles. I wanted something a bit more bold, colourful and vibrant.
Creation
The site was created on and off (mostly off!) for over 3 months using the following skills and technologies: -
Design
- Adobe Photoshop CS
- Abobe Illustrator CS
- Dynamic Drive Favicon generator - for creating the site’s favicon from a png file
Coding
- Adobe (was Macromedia) Dreamweaver
- Notepad
- XHTML 1.0 Transitional
- CSS 2.1 (with a hint of CSS 3 for browsers that support it)
- PHP
- Javascript
Hosting
If you hadn’t noticed, the site is powered by the wonderful WordPress using a theme that I designed and created. It’s all currently hosted on a VDS from 2host. I decided I need the flexibility of a dedicated server as I wanted to learn some basic Linux administration skills and so I could set up the server how I like it. It took over 6 months of research and cock-ups before I managed to get a good foundation of the LAMP environment so I could set up the server to what your using now.
